Sea & Learn on Saba 21st Annual: Celebration of Science and Environmental Awareness for one month long

The esteemed Sea & Learn on Saba program is preparing for its 21st annual edition, scheduled for the entire month of October. Renowned for its commitment to fostering scientific inquiry and environmental responsibility, this award-winning initiative will bring together 14 distinguished scientists from various parts of the globe to share their knowledge with both the local community and visitors.

In line with the program’s inclusive philosophy, Sea & Learn on Saba presents a wide range of interactive activities designed for participants of all ages, including children, adults, seniors, and tourists. Through captivating field projects, workshops, and interactive sessions, attendees are encouraged to immerse themselves in the intriguing realm of science while enjoying the experience, thereby enhancing their environmental awareness. As evening falls, Ted-Talk style presentations will be hosted at various bars and restaurants throughout the month. Attendees in 2024 will also enjoy a special addition: prior to each presentation, guests will receive a nutritious appetizer along with a recipe card to encourage healthy living. All presentations will be live-streamed on the Sea & Learn Foundation’s (SLF) Facebook page and subsequently uploaded to SLF’s YouTube Channel for ongoing access.

With the guiding motto, “Enhance Your Environmental Awareness,” the program aims each year to empower individuals to become citizen scientists through engaging experiences. Terrestrial and marine field projects are carefully scheduled to avoid conflicts with pre-arranged diving activities. These meaningful projects and engaging activities promote a deeper understanding of and responsible interaction with Saba’s unique marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

“We are excited to announce the 21st edition of Sea & Learn on Saba, as we continue our mission to inspire curiosity and foster environmental awareness through scientific engagement,” stated Lynn Costenaro, Founding Director of the Sea & Learn Foundation. “Our aspiration is for this event to have the greatest impact yet.”
